Foreshore shacks again threatened – Apr 25, 1892
Floating cabins on shore of Burrard Inlet, courtesy Vancouver Archives

Thee debate was fierce over the Police Committee’s recommendation that the police force forcibly demolish private shacks and cabins to ensure the City’s jurisdiction over the area.   Alderman Scoullar Franklin and Odlum objected to the idea; the rest found them “unsightly”.  The City Solicitor gave his opinion that the City would not be held liable for the cost of any shacks torn down.
