The Council met on Tuesday December 13th 1898 at 8 P.M.
Present His Worship the Mayor and Aldermen Townley, Painter, McQueen, Neelands, McPhaiden, Brown, Foreman, McMorran and Bruce.

Moved by Alderman Townley
Seconded by “ Painter
That the Council go into Committee of the Whole for the Consideration of the C.P.R. Exemption Agreements.
Carried.

Alderman Brown was appointed Chairman.

The respective agreements were read over Clause by Clause.

Moved by Mayor Garden.
Seconded by Alderman Foreman,
That the space be filled and reclaimed of the foreshore as shown on the plan be colored pink and that plans and cross sections showing the character and construction of the remaining [retaining? text is smudged] wall as sketched by the Executive Agent Mr. Geo. McL. Brown be prepared and attached to the agreement.
Carried.

The Committee then rose and reported the passage of the Agreements with amendments.

It was then move by Alderman Townley.
Seconded by Alderman McQueen.
That the agreements as amended be approved and signed by the Mayor and City Clerk and the Corporate Seal affixed thereto.
Carried.

Consideration of By-Laws

Moved by Alderman Townley.
Seconded by “ McQueen,
That the C.P.R. Exemption

By-Law be read a 3rd time and be signed by the Mayor and City Clerk and the Corporate Seal affixed thereto.
Carried.

Moved by Alderman McPhaiden.
Seconded by “ Bruce,
That the By-Law to raise $12000 for the construction of a wharf at the foot of Heatley Avenue be now read a 3rd time and be signed by the Mayor and City Clerk and the Corporate Seal affixed thereto.
Carried.

The Council then adjourned.
