The Council met on Friday December 30th 1887 at 7.30.p.m.
Present His Worship Mayor MacLean, Aldermen Alexander, Clark, Hamilton, Humphries, Lefevre, Mannion, D. Oppenheimer, Isaac Oppenheimer and Sanders.
The minutes of last meeting were read and adopted.
From Giles and Howard asking permission to occupy a portion of the Street for the purpose of mixing mortar.
From Fred Munro, drawing the attention of the Council to the employment of Chinese on the Gravel contract.
Moved by Alderman Hamilton seconded by Alderman I. Oppenheimer,
“That the matter be referred to the Contractor to make the necessary explanation to Council.”

The Board of Works met on Friday December 30th 1887 and beg to recommend the payment of the following accounts:

We recommend that Cambie Street between Hastings and Pender Streets be planked 16 feet wide, if Council can see its way clear to supply the necessary funds to enable the hospital contractors to carry their material to the ground.

The Annual Reports of the Health, Fire, Water and Light, and Police Committees were presented and read by the respective Chairmen thereof and adopted by Council.

“That the City Engineer be authorized to contract for removing the sidewalk material taken up on Hastings Street and to construct a Sidewalk from Howe Street to the first Street West of Burrard Street on Georgia Street.”

That the account of the Vancouver Herald amounting to $91.90 be paid.

“That the Finance Committee be authorized to pay $44.82 to the Bank of British Columbia as commission for cashing General Debenture Coupons if found correct.”

That His Worship leave the Chair and Alderman Humphries be appointed Chairman
Moved by Alderman Clark, seconded by Alderman Mannion,
That the City Treasurer be authorized to pay His Worship Mayor MacLean, the sum of Seven hundred and fifty-dollars according to By-Law No 53.
The Council then adjourned to meet again on Monday January 2nd 1888 at 11.30. a.m.
