In response to a letter from the Deputy Attorney General drawing attention to the want of lights on the public wharves, the Light Railway and Tramway Committee resolved to go around …to view where lights are required.

The Health Inspector recommended that the following Rules and Regulations be adopted for the government of the Crematory:-
- The Crematory shall be in charge of a Caretaker who shall be under the direct supervision of the Health Inspector and Health Committee.
- The Crematory shall be open for receiving

purposes between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. every week day except for the delivery of night soil which may be delivered during the night by the licensed scavengers.
- A Record Book shall be kept to be signed by all parties delivering material to be cremated for which a receipt will be given by the Caretaker at the same time.
- The following charges will be made upon delivery for cremating:-

Also that the Hon the Minister of Public Works be requested to use his influence with the Hon, the Minister of Marine and Fisheries to see that the work referred to in the communication of this Council dated the 19th of September 1898 be carried out in accordance with his promise and with the wishes of this Council.
