Vancouver January 16th 1899

The Council met on Monday January 16th 1899
Present: His Worship the Mayor and Aldermen Painter, McQueen, Foreman, McPhaiden, Neelands, McMorran and Bruce and Brown.
The Minutes of last meeting were read and adopted.

The Annual Reports for the year 1898 were submitted and filed for reference.

The following Reports were received and read:

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee met on Friday 13th 1899.

Present: Alderman McQueen, Painter and Bruce.

From the City Solicitor submitting the names of S. H. Holmes and Michael Costello as sureties for Mssrs Campbell and Rannie on repairs to Street block paving.
Resolved that they be accepted.

From W.A. Anderson calling into question the accuracy of the Market scales.
Referred to the City Solicitor.

From M.D. McLennan handing in dyking Assignment Notice for his late ranch on the Fraser River.
Referred to the City Solicitor.

Water and Market Committee

The Water and Market Committee met on Wednesday, January 11th, 1899 at 4:00 PM.
Present: Aldermen Brown, McMorran, Neelands and Townley.

Mr. Hollander waited upon the committee asking for a reduction of $20 on his account for scrap iron, the iron having been of bad quality.
Resolved that he be granted a reduction of $20.00.
