The Council met on Monday January 17th 1898

Present: Aldermen Painter, Townley, McQueen, Neelands, McPhaiden, Brown, W.S. MacDonald, D.G. McDonald and Bethune.

Moved by Alderman McQueen; Seconded by Alderman Townley

That Alderman Brown be appointed Chairman. Carried.

The minutes of last meeting were read and adopted.

Moved by Alderman McQueen; Seconded by Alderman Neelands

That the Mayor and Council decides a Vote of Condolence to the widow and children of the late Mayor Templeton and that the Council and City Officials attend his funeral in a body and that a letter of condolence be drafted and forwarded to his widow. Carried.

Moved by Alderman McQueen; Seconded by Alderman Painter

That the Council rise. Carried.
