Vancouver January 18th 1897.

The New Council met on Monday January 18th 1897 at Noon.

Present His Worship, Mayor Wm. Templeton, Alderman H. P. Shaw, H. J. Painter, James McQueen, Thos. F. Neelands, D. McPhaiden, James Clandenning, Wm Brown, W. S. MacDonald, D. G. McDonald, and Cas. A. Coldwell.

The City Clerk presented the returns on the Civic Elections:

A communication was received from Wm Skene Hon Secretary of the Board of Trade asking the Council to meet his Board to discuss Smelter Matters.

That the Mayor and Council meet the Board of Trade on Thursday the 21st inst at 8 p.m. in the Board of Trade Rooms to discuss Smelter matters.
Carried

The Council then adjourned.
