Churches unite to appeal for relief work – January 21, 1895

Council received a delegation of three clergymen who urged the necessity of providing relief work for the unemployed. A By-law to borrow $150,000 for operating costs received second and third reading.

It was then read a 3rd time on motion of Alderman McCraney seconded by Alderman Queen.

Notices of Motion

Alderman Coupland gave notice that he intended to move one week from tonight for the names of all City Officials the salary each one receives and the duties each one receives and the duties each one performs.

Alderman Bethune gave notice that at next meeting he would move that the sum of $500.00 to assist the Salvation Army in building of fitting up a food and shelter house in this City; the amount to be paid over on the completion of said house.
The Council then adjourned.
