Vancouver July 30th 1894
The Council met on Monday July 30th 1894.
Present: His Worship, the Mayor and Aldermen Salsbury, Shaw, Queen, McDowell, McPhaiden, William Brown, Franklin, C.L. Brown and Bethune.
The Minutes of last meeting were read and adopted.
Communications
From Dr. Brydone- Jack asking for assistance for Mrs. Gunn {of 113 Hastings}. Referred to Board of Health.
From Dr. Thomas advising that all milk be scalded {to destroy all germs} before using {due to number of bovine tuberculosis cases}. Moved by Alderman Salsbury; seconded by Alderman C.L. Brown
That the communication of Dr. Thomas be published for one month. Carried.
From Thomas Lewis, Secretary of the Fraser Valley Relief Committee urging upon all those in a position to give or procure funds to use every effort to do so without delay. Moved by Alderman Salsbury; seconded by Alderman queen.
That the Report be referred to the Relief Committee of Vancouver with a recommendation from the Council that they take every means to collect sufficient monies from citizens to meet their quota of the necessary relief that may be required. Carried.

That the City Solicitor be instructed to draft a By-Law to provide for the licensing of Milk Vendors also a By-Law to empower the Council to inspect milk sold in the City and to regulate and inspect premises where milch cows are kept.

The By-Law was read a second time.
The Council went into Committee of the whole, for its consideration. Alderman William Brown in the Chair.
The By-Law was read over clause by clause and reported to Council as complete with amendments. The Rules were again suspended and the By-Law read a 3rd time on motion of Alderman McDowell seconded by Alderman C.L. Brown.

That the amendments to the Health By-Law be read a 3rd time. Carried.
Notice of Motion
Alderman Franklin gave notice that at next meeting of Council he will introduce a By-Law to provide for the raising of the sum of $ for the purpose of putting in a new arc lighting plant to light the streets of Vancouver.
The Board then adjourned.
