The photo above shows Water Street about four weeks after the Fire. This development of Water Street had been planned before the Fire, and amended to include about $200 to replace the sidewalk lost during the Fire. At the June 30, 1886 meeting, Council adopts a report from City Engineer regarding the rates on Water Street to finance this development.

Vancouver June 30th 1886
A Special Meeting of the Council was held on Monday June 30th 1886 at 3 o’clock P.M.
Present His Worship the Mayor, Aldermen Balfour, Dunn, Griffith, Hemlow, L.A. and E.P. Hamilton.
Moved by Alderman L.A. Hamilton seconded by Alderman Balfour that the Report of the City Engineer giving the Special rate to be struck on Water Street be adopted. Carried.
The Council then adjourned.
