The Council met on Friday April 17th 1896.

Present His Worship the Mayor and full Board of Aldermen

The object of the meeting was to consider the Estimates.

They were taken up clause by clause.

It was resolved that provision be made in the Estimates for a grant to the City Band, amounting $300.

It was resolved to make the following reductions in the Liquor licenses:-

Hotels to $225

Saloons to 500

Shops to 300

It was resolved to charge Clubs a license of $100 per annum. Chinese liquor dealers $400 per annum and cigan dealers $50 per annum.

The final consideration of the Estimates was laid over to the regular meeting on Monday.

The Council then adjourned.
