The Council met on Friday March 13th 1896.
Present His Worship, the Mayor and Aldermen Shaw, Painter, Banfield, Schou, McPhaiden, Clandenning, MacDonald, Brown and Coldwell.
Consideration of By Laws

That the amendments to the Fire Limit By Law be read a second time.
Carried
The By Law was accordingly read a second time.

That the By Law to license and regulate plumbers etc be read a second time.
Carried
The By Law was accordingly read a second time.

Seconded by “ MacDonald
That the By Law to partly exempt from taxation the improvements and buildings erected on lands within the City be read a second time.

The By Laws were each read over clause by clause and reported complete with amendments with the exception of the amendments to the Sunday Closing By Law which was defeated in Committee and the Boulevard By Law which was not considered in Committee.
