Vancouver March 29th 1897
The Council met on Monday March 29th 1897
Present – His Worship the Mayor, and Aldermen Shaw, Painter, McQueen, Neelands, McPhaiden, Clandenning, Brown, W.S. MacDonald and D.G. McDonald.
The Minutes of last meetings were read and adopted.
Communications
From I. M. Mac Lenan, M.D. asking for information regarding the admission of patients into the hospital. Referred to the Health Committee
From G. W. Henry. Mission City asking if the Market Committee would meet a deputation from the Fruit Exchange socially on the 13th of April at 730 P.M.
The City Clerk was instructed to write and tell him that the Committee would be pleased to meet them on the date and have mentioned in the City Hall.
From John M. Spinks asking for the opening up of 7th Av. Referred to the Board of Works
From the City Solicitor stating that Haywood would be entitled to one month’s notice in case the Council wished to dispense with his services.

From the Chief of Police reporting on the Electric lights. Filed
From John Carton, Chicago asking for a bonus for the creation of a Sheep Skin Factory in the City. Referred to the Finance Committee

Resolved that he be informed that the Council shall be pleased at any time to meet a Deputation to talk over the matter.

Resolved that the foreman for Ward 5 be notified to move the trees on 6th Avenue fronting on Mr Doering’s house as soon as possible.
