Council Forward Smelter Report to Rothschild Representative – October 15, 1897

In the third special meeting held this week, the Mayor and seven Aldermen, the City Solicitor and the City Engineer met with Harry Symons, Q.C. to furnish him with their written report.

Vancouver October 15th 1897

The Council met on Friday October 15th 1897 at 4pm.

Present: His Worship the Mayor and Aldermen Townley, McQueen, Clandening, Brown, W.S. MacDonald, D.G. McDonald and Bethune. Also the City Solicitor, City Engineer and Harry Symons Q.C. on behalf of the smelting company {Rothschild’s syndicate}.

The draft form of agreement was again taken into consideration and read over clause by clause.

It was then moved by Alderman Townley; seconded by Alderman Bethune

That the Report of the Committee and the Agreement be adopted and a certified copy of it given to Mr. Symons, to Company’s agent to be forwarded by him to London for execution. Carried.

The Council then adjourned.
