The Board of Works was instructed to put down a six foot sidewalk from 8th to 9th Ave on South Granville Street. $15.00 was also set aside for the purpose of covering the coarse rock at the south end of Granville Street with ashes from Hotel Vancouver. Salaries for the two Inspectors and the Tax Collector were set at $60 – 65 per month.

The Council met on Monday September 23, 1895.
Present: Acting Mayor Brown, and Aldermen Coupland, Gallagher, Queen, McPhaiden, Clandenning, Sanders, Bethune and McDonald.

The question of the expenditure of the $250 to be paid over by the Street Railway be for the fixing up of Robson Street was discussed.
Resolved that the work be done under the supervision of the Ward Foreman and the instructions of the City Engineer it being understood that this work shall not interfere with the ordinary work.
Resolved that the coarse rock at the south end of Granville Street be covered with ashes from Hotel Vancouver.
Resolved also that the plank on Granville Street between Davie and Drake Streets be re-planked by the Wardmen it being in a dangerous condition.
In reference to the drain to carry water away from Thompson Bros cellar, corner of Howe and Pender Streets, the Committee decided to go examine it with the Engineer.
