Special meeting to settle sale of City land to Arthur C. Henderson of Chilliwack and to limit the salary of the incoming Police Magistrate to $1,200 per year.

Vancouver October 23rd 1895

The Council held a special meeting on Wednesday October 23rd 1895.

Present – His Worship, the Mayor and Aldermen Coupland, Queen, Gallagher, McPhaiden, Clandenning, Brown, Sanders, Bethune, & MccDonald.

Moved by Alderman Bethune.
Seconded by “ Brown.
In the matter of the sale of land mortgaged by Asaph Castleman to the Trustees of the City Sinking Fund, dated the 4th of August 1892 under power of sale contained in the said mortgage to Arthur C. Henderson of Chilliwhack, merchant.
The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to sign and affix the seal of the City of Vancouver to a conveyance of the lands described in the said mortgage deed to Arthur C. Henderson, under the powers contained in the said mortgage and the Incorporation Act 1886, amendments Act 1893 he being the purchaser of the said lands at public auction.
Carried.

Moved by Alderman Bethune.
Seconded by “ Sanders.
That in the opinion of this Council the salary of the Police Magistrate of the City should not exceed $1200 per annum and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
Carried.

Nays Aldermen Gallagher, Queen, & McDonald

Aldermen Coupland, Bethune did not vote.

The Council then adjourned.
