Finance Committee to track street, sidewalk expenses before contracts are signed – June 25, 1888

Every recommendation for opening streets or laying sidewalk or other work shall state the estimated cost of the same and that before any contract is signed such estimate shall be passed upon and reported on by the Finance Committee. Applications shall be called for the position of caretaker at the Public Cemetery, the applicant to state salary required and whether he is a man with a family.

City of Vancouver needs a road from Fraser River to False Creek – July 11, 1887

City Clerk to write to the Provincial Government asking that a road be constructed “from the North Arm of the Fraser River in a direct line from Sea and Lulu Islands to False Creek”. City Solicitor T.T. Black advises Council to “resist” the claim of A.M. Grant for sherry seized by the police. Fire Water and Light Committee recommends that Council discontinue the offices of License, Health and Fire Inspectors.
