January – March 1900: The minutes for 1900 were sponsored by Bruno Wall, current Chief financial officer of Wall Financial Corporation.
The following are a few items discussed by Council in the 1st quarter of 1900:
- steel swing on Granville Street Bridge to be examined because of safety concerns
- new Council was sworn in on January 15, 1990
- ongoing discussions regarding foreshore rights, Coal Harbour and False Creek Flats
- dolphins impeding navigation in Harbour
- many requests regarding infrastructure (sewers, lights, sidewalks) new buildings and streets, fire codes and expansion of City limits
- tenders submitted for uniforms were subject to union labour and scale of wages
- purifiers were required in slaughterhouses; much flooding in these months as well as discussion regarding diversion of water from natural courses
- charges were presented to Council regarding City Engineer and the Free Library’s lease was renewed
