1900 minutes transcriptions were sponsored by Bruno Wall

January – March 1900: The minutes for 1900 were sponsored by Bruno Wall, current Chief financial officer of Wall Financial Corporation.

The following are a few items discussed by Council in the 1st quarter of 1900:

  • steel swing on Granville Street Bridge to be examined because of safety concerns
  • new Council was sworn in on January 15, 1990
  • ongoing discussions regarding foreshore rights, Coal Harbour and False Creek Flats
  • dolphins impeding navigation in Harbour
  • many requests regarding infrastructure (sewers, lights, sidewalks) new buildings and streets, fire codes and expansion of City limits
  • tenders submitted for uniforms were subject to union labour and scale of wages
  • purifiers were required in slaughterhouses; much flooding in these months as well as discussion regarding diversion of water from natural courses
  • charges were presented to Council regarding City Engineer and the Free Library’s lease was renewed
