Sunday Street Sprinkling to Go Ahead – June 26, 1899

In spite of a motion of objection to work being done on Sundays, the Board of Works passed a motion have Georgia Street watered by the Firemen of No. 2 Fire Hall on Saturday nights or Sunday mornings and the firemen at No 3 Fire Hall to do same on Mount Pleasant. Two proposed By-Laws were overturned; one to raise $100,000 for Street Improvements an another to raise $25,000 to build a new Fire Hall and to buy additional sites for future Fire Halls. Two other By-Laws passed second reading; one to obtain certain lands for a public park, and another to raise $125,000 for Sewer improvements.
