The New Council for 1893 met at 12 o’clock noon.
Present His Worship, Mayor Cope, and Aldermen R. A. Anderson, W. F. Salsbury, Henry Collins, James W. Hackett, H. P. McCraney, Wm. Cargill, J. L. Franklin, George Hobson, C. L. Brown, Wm. Towler.

After the opening address of the Mayor it was moved by Aldermen Collins, seconded by Alderman Salsbury.
That the Council resolve itself into a Committee of the Whole for the purpose of striking Standing Committees for 1893.
Carried

Alderman St Collins was appointed Chairman.

The following members were suggested by the Mayor for the Finance Committee:-
Aldermen Anderson, Collins, Cargill, Hobson and Towler.

Moved by Alderman Towler that his name be struck off and the name of Alderman Brown substituted instead.
Carried

Moved by Alderman Franklin
That the Finance Committee stand as amended.

The following members were suggested for the Board of Works.
Alderman McCraney, Salsbury, Hackett, Brown and Franklin.

Moved by Alderman Towler
That the name of Alderman Towler be substituted for that of Alderman Brown on the Board of Works.

Seconded by “ Brown
That the original names stand.
Carried

The following names were suggested as Members of the Police ^ and Market^ Committee viz:
Towler, Salsbury, Hackett, Hobson, and McCraney.

That the names suggested be adopted.
Carried

The following names were suggested for the Health Committee:-
Alderman Collins, Anderson, Cargill, Hobson and Brown.

Moved by Alderman Franklin.
That the name of Alderman Towler be substituted for that of Alderman Brown.

Moved by Mayor Cope.
That the Health Committee stand as amended.
Carried

The following names were suggested for the F. W + L. Committee viz:-
Aldermen Franklin, Salsbury, Hackett, Cargill and Towler.

That the names as suggested stand.
Carried

That the Committee rise and report.
