Council voted the City Solicitor “take the necessary steps to find out what position the foreshore in front of the Old Granville Townsite stands re claims by the Province or City before this agreement is handed over to the C.P.R. Co.

That in accordance with the wishes of the Citizens the Council withdraw any objection and allow Mr. Ludgate to proceed with the construction of the mill and give bonds not employ Chinese or Japanese nor help share nor encroach on land with slabs in accordance with the conditions submitted by him.

That the Mayor put the above motion.
Carried.

On the motion being put the Mayor declared it ‘lost’ ruling that a two thirds majority was required.

Consideration of By-Laws

That the Rules be again suspended to allow of the Second reading of the By-Law

to authorize the Second reading of the By-Law (word cut off page) for the closing of a portion of Forbes Street and Boundary Avenue.
Carried.

The By-Law was accordingly read a Second time.

The Council went into Committee of the Whole for the consideration of the By-Law with the Mayor in the Chair.

The By-Law was read over clause by clause and reported to Council as complete without amendment.

The Rules were again suspended and the By-Law read a 3rd time on motion by Alderman. Bruce Seconded by Alderman McQueen.

The Council the adjourned.
