The agreement between Vananda Mine and the City of Vancouver was completed and will go to the electors to vote on as soon as possible.

Vancouver May 4th 1898

The Council met on Wednesday May 4th, 1898 at 2 PM.

Present His Worship the Mayor and Aldermen Townley, Painter, McQueen, Neelands, McPhaidan, Brown, Neelands, McMorran and Bruce. Also the City Solicitor and Mr. H.W. Treat representing the Vananda Copper and Gold Mining Co.

The City Solicitor submitted a draft of the proposed agreement between W. Treat and City of Vancouver for the erection of a smelter
It was first read over.

Moved by Alderman Brown
Seconded by “ McMorran
That the council go into committee of the whole for this consideration of the agreement with the mayor to chair.
Carried.

The aforementioned was accordingly considered clause by clause.

It was then moved by Alderman McQueen
Seconded by Alderman Townley.
That the committee rise and report.
Carried.

The report as complete was then reported to council

That the aforementioned as amended be adopted by this council.

That the City Solicitor be instructed to prepare a By-Law for the submission of the votes of the electors at the next meeting of the Council.
Carried.

Notice of Motion

Alderman McQueen gave notice that he would introduce a By-Law to provide for the assuming of debentures granting a permit under the aforementioned.
The Council then adjourned.
